Invisalign®
Straighter teeth without braces
Discover the more discreet, more comfortable, more flexible way to obtain a perfect smile.
What is Invisalign®
Invisalign® is a treatment that straightens your teeth without the need for braces. The system uses clear thermoplastic aligners which are discreet, comfortable, and you can remove them whenever you want. Invisalign® aligners may be almost invisible, but they are strong enough to treat a wide range of malalignments. Your clear aligners will be custom made to fit your mouth and correct your specific problem, be it overcrowding, gaps between your teeth, overbite, underbite, or crossbite.
What do I need to know about Invisalign®?
To find out if Invisalign® is right for you, you’ll need to come in for a consultation where we will assess your bite and your dental health. Then we’ll take a digital scan of your mouth that will show what can be achieved and how many aligners you’ll need. If you’re happy with that, we can begin your treatment. In most cases, we will fit some little white buttons to your teeth that help your aligners stay in place, and we may need to create some small spaces between crowded teeth.
What other treatments are available?
Depending on your situation, some of the following treatment options might be recommended to transform your smile.
Common questions about Invisalign®
-
Invisalign® is suitable for treating a wide range of malocclusions. If you have other dental health issues, such as tooth decay or gum disease, we highly recommend that you get those treated before starting Invisalign®. If you have a severe malocclusion, you may need traditional braces instead.
-
On average, the Invisalign® process takes from three to twelve months. However, every mouth is different, and the length of your treatment will depend on several factors, including the severity of your malocclusion.
-
Because Invisalign® aligners are removable, you can brush and floss as normal, which is a big benefit over braces that can be hard to clean. If you need to clean your aligner, you can gently brush it with warm, soapy water.
-
For optimal results, you should wear your aligners for 20-22 hours each day. You would normally only take them out to eat your meals and brush or floss your teeth.
-
Once you’ve completed your treatment, there is a risk that your teeth will want to move back to their original places. Retainers prevent this from happening by keeping your teeth in their ideal positions. We’ll give you a retainer once you finish with your Invisalign® aligners.
-
The cost of your Invisalign® treatment will depend on how crooked your teeth are and how long it will take to correct your bite. During your initial consultation, we’ll give you a quote based on the number of aligners you will need.
