EMS hygiene
Airflow technology for a quicker, more thorough, more comfortable clean
Say goodbye to painful scraping. Our no-contact EMS Airflow technology gets your teeth cleaner, faster, without discomfort.
What is EMS hygiene?
EMS hygiene is an incredible advance in tooth cleaning technology. It gets your teeth cleaner than traditional hygiene procedures with little, if any, need to scrape at your teeth and gums with uncomfortable instruments. Instead, we gently polish away biofilm, plaque, and tartar with a stream of air, warm water, and fine powder. Not only is this much quicker and more comfortable, but it also gets better results in hard-to-reach places like between your teeth and above your gum line.
What do I need to know about EMS Airflow technology?
Dental plaque contains millions of bacteria, which, over time, create biofilm on your teeth. Biofilm can cause gum disease and the formation of tartar. To make sure we get rid of all the plaque, tartar, and biofilm on your teeth, we paint them with a highlighting dye. At this point, we’ll show you where your problem areas are, so that you know where to focus when you’re cleaning your teeth at home. Then we’ll use EMS Airflow technology to gently remove all the coloured material, leaving your teeth spotlessly clean without pain.

Common questions about EMS hygiene
-
Compared to manually scraping the plaque and biofilm from your teeth, EMS Airflow technology can be up to twice as fast. It’s also much more comfortable and produces a better result.
-
EMS hygiene is perfect for people with sensitive teeth because we don’t have to touch your teeth with metal instruments. The Airflow stream temperature can be adjusted for your comfort. EMS hygiene may even help to reduce sensitivity, because the microparticles used in the cleaning process can fill tiny holes in your teeth.
-
EMS Airflow directs a small stream of warm water, air, and superfine powder particles at the surface of your teeth. This mixture gently breaks up plaque and biofilm, cleaning and polishing in one action. It even removes stains. We have a special instrument that catches the run-off and sucks it away.
-
EMS hygiene can get into hard-to-reach spots like between your teeth and up under your gums to clean them gently and thoroughly. The microparticles can clean any little pits and fissures in your enamel and around the edges of braces. Because it is so gentle, EMS Airflow can clean areas of exposed root that might be too sensitive to clean with traditional scrapers.
-
If you have a significant build-up of tartar, it might be necessary to use additional tools to remove it. However, by using EMS Airflow first, the tartar will be easier and quicker to remove.

The cost of an EMS Airflow cleaning will vary depending on the condition of your teeth and mouth. If you’d like to find out how much your appointment is likely to cost, get in touch with our friendly reception team.
